Title: 2204 Output Transformer assembly question
Post by: ChadFunkRailroad on April 05, 2012, 02:45:36 AM
Hi All,

I have a 2204 minus the trans. and tubes from Nik, and I need some help
with hooking up a few wires of the OT.
The ohms leads to the ohms selector, I got that,  but the other three wires
(red, brow, white) I'm having a hard time with.  It is a Mojotone OT.

Also, the choke has 2 wires, black and red, there is no indication of polarity.?

thanks for any help

chad

the blue arrows/marks are my choke solder points (polarity?)
the red arrows are my OT solder points

Here is the OT's specs...Brown is the center tap.  White goes to V5 (the EL34 on the end), Red goes to V4 (the other EL34).

While, it is *not* impossible for a choke to have polarity, or a rectifier-facing end (higher insulation), typically in these days, there is no polarity, especially if not marked on the choke.

I will add an unsolicited comment that this is a red flag that you may want to have a tech do this.

OK thanks for the help.

So white goes on pin 3 of the V5
and red goes to the pin 3 on V4
and brown goes to HT fuse 0.5A T

and on the choke there is no polarity.

Correct.

Ceriatone Brown=Mojotone White
Ceriatone Blue=Mojotone Red
Ceriatone Red= Mojotone Brown

Ceriatone is using traditional American color coding (Fender, Gibson, and others had the Brown Red and Blue wires), Mojotone is using the traditional Marshall color code.

I should also point out I had a typo above it should have said "while it is *not* impossible for a choke to have polarity," it does not in this case.
