Hello everyone out there. This is my first post and I had a question for you guys out there about Nik's JCM 800 series. First of all, I have one of Nik's DC30 amps and I just love it! In fact, I gigged with it last night and got killer tone out of it, definately a keeper. I'm looking at a JCM800 or a 50 watt plexi. I've never played a plexi and I was wondering if the grind is similar to the 800. Also, which 800 is the 50 watt version, the 2203 or 2204 and does both have a master volume? The tone I'm looking for is mid 70's hard rock, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Warren Haynes tone with a more gain on tap for soloing. Also, I like big fat warm gain tones and tend to avoid the tinny kind of thinner sound. Anyway if there's anyone out there who knows the different characterists of the plexi vs the 800 I would really appreciate your comments and it would help my decide which amp to go for. Thanks!

I cant tell you about masters on the plexi or not but a 2203 is a 100watt version and the 2204 is the 50 watt version. you can add a Master volume to either if they dont have one Kitraist should be able to help you with that or joepop

I have the 2204 and it rules! The master is great and I get killer AC/DC tones using a PAF style pickup. There are tons of master mods out there on the net. Check over in the Metro Amp forums if you want to add one to a Plexi.
