 Any truth to the rumor that Ceriatone is now building their own head sell now? If so is there a list of options/prices available?

Yes, they make the headshells now, but not for all amps as far as I can tell.

Thanks Radiohead, I looked around the site but didn't think to actually look at an amp for the shell.

I would get the headshell or cabs locally... shipping for heavy item like this will be a LOT. I made my own headshell by joining pieces of pre-made shelf from a local hardware store. It doesn't look proper but it does its job nicely.

I plan to do that for my BF champ since it doesn't seem reason makes one for this amp.

What material is it made out of? (wood, mdf, plywood?)

I use pine for all my cabs.  I love the way pine cabs resonate.  At volume the sound seems to radiate from the entire cab not just from the baffle.  I built a "bare" 5E3 head and 1x12 cab for a fellow and he was so thrilled that he could not put a glass of beer on the cab as it would "bounce" off.  Most high end builders these days use Baltic Birch Ply.  I would too, but I can't get it.

Is there any plans for various speaker cabs on the internet? I think I would like to build my own cab but I need some dimension so I can ask a lumber store to cut it to size for me (I don't have a table saw...)

Let me know what you are planning.  1x12, 2x12, combo....etc.  Speakers you are going to use factor into the equation as well.

4x12 cab, straight

I've built pretty much everything but a 4x12...sorry.  A few things to consider.

Don't forget you need some serious hardware for gluing up a 4x12.

 With the price of lumber, tolex, and hardware for a 4x12 (including shipping) it might be wise to try to source a used 4x12 cab and just re-tolex it. 

Can't do that because no one offers a used 412 cab (in fact a used Marshall 1960a 412 cab cost about 600 dollars in Taiwan...) anywhere since the amount of people in taiwan that actually uses or wants a 412 cab is minimal, its essentially a niche market here (most music shop owners I talked to said this) due to the crowded living condition... so the few who wants it will have to buy it from those music store (1200+) or build it themselves. I wish I could find a used cab on the internet for 200 but that just doesn't exist here... There are a few custom builders who will build one for about 400 excluding speakers.

I don't need clamps to glue a 412 other than a few C clamps for the brace though, I used wood screw to clamp a butt joint, it works pretty well as long as the top board has a larger hole so the screw doesn't bite. Other builders used a much more primitive method (white glue and nails) and it works but long term reliability remains to be seen... He didn't tolex the cab though, just painted it black.

Hope someone reads this. I am thinking of making my own head shell. It would be a metal skeleton kind of shell. I wanted to put lexan over the bottom which faces up but am not sure that would work because of shielding  for RF.  Any thoughts? I just like the idea of being able to see the circuitry.

Consider a metal mesh or something inside the Lexan, it would act as a Faraday cage for shielding.  But I don't think it's a huge issue, Fender didn't shield the back panel of the Tweed amps, or the top of BF/SF amps.
