Hi,

I am now made aware of some discussions of fake Cliff jacks.

Just to let guys know that we DO NOT use Fakes!  We get Cliff jacks from Cliff in the UK.

About 2 years ago, we were PROPOSED by Cliff UK to get China made Cliffs, and we bought 1000 pcs to try. We did, and after abt 50 pcs, we stopped, as these were not good.

So I am still left with 950 or so pcs of Cliff China jacks, unused.

There are many companies which used fake Cliff jacks, or China made Cliff jacks. Even very well known companies, and only realizing later, from warranty claims, that these jacks are not good.

What I have heard, Cliff USA does not supply the same jacks as Cliff UK? Correct me if I am wrong.

The china made Cliff is shaped quite differently than the real UK ones. The body is more squarish. The insertion is also very hard at times to go in.

It is quite a mystery, and a question Cliff UK didnt answer me - why the different shape and spec between UK made and Chinese made ones?

We have also tried Belton jacks. Although Belton makes good tube sockets, I feel their jacks is not up to snuff either. Still have a few hundred of these, somewhere in the black hole of my storage room (the reject part / biohazard area Smiley)

So there you go, some (useless?) info for Sunday.

Switchcraft open frame? We're too lazy here to deal with those. Smiley The Cliffs are so easy to solder to and place components on (like the 1M resistor, for eg).

Thanks!

Nik
