Title: Choke Post by: kurtlives on March 17, 2008, 11:00:13 PM Hi Im new here, I just finished a Vibro CHamp the other day!
What is a choke and what is the purpose of one? Thanks... Title: Re: Choke Post by: mcinku on March 25, 2008, 11:04:37 AM I'll try to answer...
...power supply output is essentially DC with some AC, "hum," riding "on top of it.", also known as ripple. Choke acts a s a filter and as such it will give you less ripple. This is not such a big factor with a low watt amp like Champ but the cost of a choke is not big, so why not. ;) Does that answer you question? Title: Re: Choke Post by: kurtlives on March 29, 2008, 05:06:01 PM Ok that makes sense. So its kinda acting like a cap can or your standard filter caps.
Title: Re: Choke Post by: mcinku on March 29, 2008, 08:12:11 PM ... well not like a cap. It acts like a resistor, but a resistor with the inductance and that is what makes ripple go away.
