Hey man,
I am not the one to advise you what to choose, but I can tell you about my choice.
I am a fan of Clapton, Gary Moore, Santana, Eric Johnson and on top of that I play music from the 60´s, sometimes mixed up with a slight portion of rockabilly and of course some bluesinfluenses. Did I mention the Beatles , and Stones ?
Anyhow, I was i the same choicefrustration as i believe you are , and I finally decided for a Bandmaster. I ordered a complete ampchassie, built by Ceriatone. To that I purchased a tweedcabinet from Germany (TAD) and three Jensen P10R. That together gave me a historically correct Bandmasterclone.
The effekt on the amp is "only" 25 watts, but I can assure you theese watts are "big ones"
The tone from this amp is clean, in a vintageway. Not comparable with more modern fenderamps, maybe due to the absence of a built-in reverb.
It takes pedals in the most fantastic way I ever experienced before. I doubt that you can get distorsion without a added pedal , but on the other hand I have never tried.
I run it together with T.C.Electronics Nova system connected between the guitar and the guitarinput on the amp.
With that equipment I got all the sound I have been looking for during many years. All of a sudden I have everything I need.
My band , that have followed my search for "the perfect sound" during a number of years , have now told me - " You are never allowed to sell that amp...."
It looks nice too, in my opinion.
I have also created my own "sign" on the amp, since I did not want to put a Fendersign on there as I have seen many cloneowners do.
It is a ceriatone , and I am proud of that , thus it should be seen. Even on the inside I have on "Fendermaner" put a little note stating what tubes in which position and who manufactured the amp.
That is the reasons for my choice !
Hope you can recognize yourself in some parts !
All The best
