hi, sorry for the slightly silly question, but i have a ceriatone champ, which i would love to use for an upcoming recording project, but i do not have a mic, and the recording is to be done in a hotel room, so the volume is not really welcome here..

i'm also looking at alternatives like softwares (guitar rig) but i would like to find out if there's an option to record my ceriatone (as i am totally used to how it sounds together with everything else in my rig) like: plugging out from amp into DI box>soundcard?

You can use something like THIS or THIS. There are plenty other options too. They can sound pretty decent, depending on your criterias, but it won't ever sound like a cranked amp  Wink

heh, they seem great, and that red box thing is very nice.. i wish i could have enough in my current budget for one

the band's going through a lot of different ideas for recording, and might not even use the hotel idea.. hmm.. but i guess the real issue is being able to make the champ usable for both recording and jamming purposes.. its either too loud, or too soft

Well i don't own one of these amps yet, but I do own a recording studio.
Much as I love and own a number of great vintage guitar amps.... I will
also use that red kidney bean shaped thing, because, once you put it in
the mix, nobody knows it wasn't the real thing.  If you want to use your
amp, you should probably mic it, then you get into the whole other discussion
of which mic and which mic pre amp.

I would say your biggest problem is that you associate with someone who would decide to record in a "hotel room", and then request that you find a way around "unwelcome volume.  You are in a band, and the biggest problem this guy foresaw to recording in a hotel room is the volume from a Fender Champ?
Other than that I would suggest buying a Shure SM57.  They have recorded huge numbers of guitar amps over the last few decades.  A good quality, used, 57, is very affordable.
