Title: Ceriatone Transformers
Post by: cmoore on November 08, 2008, 04:28:50 PM

What do you guys think of the company that makes the power and out trannies for Ceriatone?  They seem to be a large and diversified company. We have five amps with the stock Ceriatone trannies, 2 Fender, 2 Marshall, and a TW clone. All the iron seems to be well made and function without trouble. But I am no expert on transformers. Nor have I ever done a direct comparison with a Ceriatone tran to a Merc Mag, Heyboer or any other brand of tranny. So what do you guys think. How do they compare?  Has anybody done any real investigating?
Thank You

Well I didn't do any scientific research, I only compared two OTS amps one, with Ceriatone transformers (my amp) and one with Made in SLO transformers... like used in these HiFi amps...

... and to be honest I couldn't say the difference was that big... all I can say, I could hear the difference but my amp was already burned in, the other one was brand new... and it was really impossible to say, that transformers were the ones which caused that difference.
Bottom line... both transformers passed my "personal" test and I wouldn't lose any sleep over this.
