Title: ABY switch for DC 30, what about the "Y"?
Post by: Ivan Durak on February 25, 2013, 02:33:58 PM
Hi everybody.

I was wondering if it's possible to run both channels at the same time with a standard ABY switch. What does it sound like? Is the split signal too weak? Would it need an EP boost?

The signal will be a little lower, but nothing that their gain stages shouldn't make up.

You may have a ground loop or phase issue, so you might consider an ABY with a ground lift and phase switch.

Thank you Wyatt. I'm looking into different ABY switches.

Thanks a lot for these pointers, bcmatt.

You can do it by just running a patch cable from the second input of the channel you're plugged into into the top input of the ther channel.  It does change the sound slightly, but I'm not sure whether that's due to the load on the cable changing or having both channels running at the same time.

I'm looking for a buffered ab/y that lets you adjust the relative gain of each.

Hi,

I see this is an old thread but I was just thinking about doing the same thing. I was intending on A/B-ing the channels but then thought about blending them. Has anybody tried this? How were the results?

Thanks!
