I have asked Nik about it being a 100W version of the JTM 45, and he said there is a tone difference. "More open, more feel to the hands."

If you know the stack Hendrix used early on (the one that ran on four KT66's) that should explain everything Wink

yeah that what hendrix used i think.
jtm45/100, but from old picture it look like it is solid state rectifier"dont know if ceriatone's one is tube rectifier or no".

hendrix used kt-66 and also 5881 for more output power i think.
he also changed the value of the tone stack.. just search about the hendrix mod on google and you will find about it easily.
and he had some other little mod in it so it be a little bit like the superlead. like the bypass cap for v2 cathode etc. it isnt on a jtm45 normally but on hendrix and superlead model it is. it's hard to tell am not a pro with that stuff :S, and as what i heard he where tweaking he's stuff everyday.

or search about rick dickinson he got one of hendrix amp.

all the marshall jmt45/100s used a ss rectifier. the b+ voltage varied a bit - somethimes it was as high as 640v. try that with a modern kt66 like the valve art!
hendrix seem to have used the 45/100 in the first part of 1967. the tone stack mod in the dickinson amp is a slight mod. the dickinson amp also has higher filtering than many other 45/100s, but this was prop a transitional value before the amp became the el34 jtm100

other famous 45/100 users are: EC (1966-late 67 or early 68), mal young (ballbreaker and possibly elsewhere)

this amps is about 70w clean - depending on the b+ voltage. but it is more than 100w at full volume. it isn't as loud as the later 100watters. I tried one here in trondheim recently: dark and warm sound. not harsh or overly loud. the later plexi amps are much louder. hell, there are socalled 50watters that are louder than the 45/100

Right, I'll be the 'guinea pig' for this I guess - I'm going to buy one as soon as I get the OK from Nik Smiley

Hopefully it will fit the plexi 100 watt cabinet I have at the moment, too.

thanks for the info on jtm45/100 using ss rectifier, i wasnt sure. and it where been doing a while i where wondering but enver checked any layout :S.

am also a fan of hendrix, when i can i try to play each afternoon for 2-3 hour, and 2/3 of time if not the whole time what am playing is jimi hendrix, if no it's cream/clapton, led zepplin, deep purple, black sabbath etc.

good to know for the filtering, i didnt knew about it. if there other mod/tweak they did and didnt went said here would be nice to know Smiley.

am trying to get most info on he's amp "the jtm45/100" he had, so on futur i may try to make a reproduction the most closer that i can.

as for the filtering, he where using 32 uf of filtering to the output tube screen grid(connecting to both the tap of the 16uf can cap)?

Thanks for the info. Smiley

see here: http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php?t=11947
specs:
 power caps: 32uF.
no bright cap on the vol, but a 560pf over the 270 mixers
560pf treble cap, 33k slope resistor
27k feedback
preamp: 32+32uf
to qoute flames 1950: For filter cans I'd get (2) dual 32's for the two mains filters, (2) dual 16's for the screens filters, a single 32 for the phase inverter (or just one side of a dual 32) and a dual 16 for the preamp (you can wire it for either only one side of the dual 16 can for all preamp stages, or use both sides and an extra 10K decoupling resistor like the Dickinson "Hendrix" amp had.)

Hi,

A few more amps are in R&D too Smiley No timeframe though - it's gonna be a Soldano or perhaps even a swipe at the Mesas - but a PTP version of it.

Andrew
