Title: Spam - what to do? Post by: ampkits on August 07, 2011, 06:16:19 PM There's been a lot of spam recently, sorry. For a while, I made the registration as moderator-approved. I forgot, then came back to find out nearly 500 new members. Obviously, lots of bots. There is something inherently wrong with the registration program's image verification - it is not random. I tried to register, and it's showing the same image over and over again. So i guess thats how the bots get in. I will look into it, perhaps install some other stuff. Davor - can you look at this as well? Thanks! nik Title: Re: Spam - what to do? Post by: plasticvonaband on August 07, 2011, 06:32:43 PM Holy cow! 500?

I will give it 1 more month. if spam doesnt improve, then I will close this forum down, and start another one. Automated registration issues shouldnt be a problem with more modern, advanced, up to date, cool, forum programs thats available freely on the web these days. (if thats not a hint, dont know what is) Thanks! nik Title: Re: Spam - what to do? Post by: plasticvonaband on August 14, 2011, 03:16:31 AM The only bad thing about shutting this one down is that we would lose alot of valuable info and resources. That would suck :(
