"The resistors used on the preamp plates of the Ceriatone OTS amp is the wrong type"

Well, Sir, I am sorry that Vishay/Dale only makes the RN65Ds in the cream/beige color these days

In the old days, yes, even Corning made RN65Ds. And they came in white, blue, brown, etc colors.

They're still RN65Ds.

We use the following:

a) Carbon Film resistors (mainly 1W even if 1/2 or 1/4W is used in other makes)

b) Carbon composition resistors

c)  RN65D military metal film resistors (in the OTS amps)

d) Metal film and oxide (1/2, 1, 2, 3W)

e) Ceramic (stone) type 5, 10, 25W

f) Dale wirewounds (those black axial 5 and 10W ones)

Again, same as others use.

What's the deal?

Thanks
!
Nik

Hey Nik,

I'm new to the world of ceriatone but have built a few amps in the past mainly soldano style ones.

The RN65D's you mention are extremely great resistors and i now use them for everything require a MF type resistor.

I built two personal SLO clones.

one using Vishay CCF60 the other with Dale RN65D's

the one with Dales turned out to be a lot quieter than the  one using CCF60s.

Nik,

I use almost all the same type in all my builds and all have turned out just fine.
