Title: ceriatone for blues Post by: jstephanus on January 27, 2009, 11:52:23 PM Wondering if there is any consensus as to which model Ceriatone works best for blues. Have listened to some Overtone HRM clips that sound great. Any other suggestions about models or mods that I should consider?

I was afraid no one would answer your question since there really isn't a good answer. You could probably get a good blues tone (depending on your definition) from any of these amps. What I can say is that the Overtone Special, which I have, is extremely versatile and would make a fine blues amp. Keep in mind, that versatile amp, has its own curse and that is it that it requires a little work to master all of its capabilities and find exactly what you want. If you want simple, straightforward, good tone try the 5E3 (Fender Tweed Deluxe). Both Strat clone, pedal and lapsteels all sound nasty or sweet depending on choices of set up. I also in a pinch plugged a blues harp player with bluuet mic in and his eyes grew VERY wide at the sound he got. I had mod'd him a Valve Jr, and he loved that for portability and sound, but the Overtone and 112 through a 15,000w PA made him way too happy. Title: Re: ceriatone for blues Post by: mr fabulous on May 09, 2010, 06:04:04 AM i have a OTS HRM 50W which is very versatile. great for many different tones... the clean channel is kinda like a twin or a priceton.... very clean and sparkly... great for tele's. the overdrive channel is where it gets intersting....i have been able to get so many different tones for the various styles of blues out there... SRV with a strat, Freddie king tones with 335. the amp responds to your playing and your touch so its up to you to dialup and adapt your playing to achieve what you want. the amp will do it. in addition, i have also used it for slide and its a perfect amp for singing slide playing.
i dont think you can go wrong with any of the OTS models.... have a listen to the clips and see what people have been playing with the various models. |
