I see it was announced, but hasn't Nik already been offering this amp for quite a while. Just a mod to the plexi right?

Hi

It should be noted that:

"Set to 1K5", for eg, for the trimmer pots, that 1K5 value is POT only. It's wired as a var resistor, in series to the fixed 1K to ground

So 1K5 + 1 = 2K5 total.

if any questions, just email me direct. No use to go wondering at another forum for a week. My answer will come to you, via email, within hours :)

Thanks!

nik

Hey Todd, just go for it. I did and I am not sorry. It sounds awesome. I had some trouble with the balance between the clean and the AFD channel but I got it sorted with a couple of resistors and some help from Nik. Oh, and it is a bit more than just a mod to the plexi, Major mod maybe a better discription...

Regards
Peter

Believe me I am very tempted but I already have a 2550 that gets me pretty much all the high gain marshall tone I want at the moment. I have been considering a JTM45 and a couple other classics as well that are more geared towards classic rock/blues. Either way its been a few months since i have fed my amp building addiction so something will be on my bench shortly.

OK so a great friend of mine has a Voodoo V-Plex amp with all the good gear in it. Made in the USA etc etc. Well we did an A/B test tonight against my newly built AFD#35 and we both new what amp was the better one. It was not even a close race but very noticeable that the Ceriatone AFD was the clear winner. Go Nik.

Question for Nik. Or anyone else who knows.......

AFD was announced after the 'no kits' announcement. Yet there is pricing for Pack 1 and Pack 2. What are these if not the old packs 1 and 2, (i.e. 1 = all the parts w/o  trannies, 2 = all the parts incl  trannies, neither assembled) Packs 3 and 4 are for assembled chassis' with and w/o trannies.

Hi,

It's available as a kit.

Anything is available as a kit. As proven time and again, saying no is very hard than saying yes :)

So the AFD is available as a kit.

I think I will make the chupa and yeti available as well.

Thanks!

Nik

You know, now that you mention it, it would be really, really cool to have the preamp section of the AFD in front of the power section of the JTM45. A JTM45 with a channel-switching front end seems like it would be a source of endless fun.
