Title: Can I use KT66s with Nik's standard Power transformer Post by: BillyRocket on January 26, 2015, 02:21:20 AM I am enjoying the amplifier that Nik built for me - it's sounds wonderful and his workmanship is outstanding! I am writing to ask if the power transformer specs would allow me to run KT66 power valves, as I have read they draw a greater heater current than the 5881 / 6L6 valves. I believe the KT66 draw 1.3 amperes and the 5881 / 6L6GB draw only 0.9 amperes for heater current. I really don't want to fry the transformer just trying some different valves! Cheers and thanks in advance for any advice - this is a GREAT amp! Quick reply to my query from Nik - great service for great amps! Rock on ;D |
