Title: Speaker Choice Post by: NoPrints on April 21, 2008, 08:01:37 AM Hi all. Totall novice builder here wondering what everybodies speaker recomendations would be. I just got my 18 watt TMB in the post on Friday and have started the assembly process. But since I will be buying my speaker/s from the US, I figure I'd better get something organised soonish. By the time they arrive out here in little ol NewZealand the bulk of the work should be completed (hopefully). I do like the Eminence Redcoat range but recently stumbled across the Wharehouse Guitar Speakers range of products. They have some happy customers and seem to be very inexpensive.

There are a lot of possibilities here. If it's a real dilemma I would spend a few minutes searching the 18watt.com forum archives. Typical choices are Heritage G12H30's, greenbacks, broken in Vintage 30's, any number of the Emi redcoats, Weber has a few, and by many accounts the warehouse speakers are fine. I bought a bunch of Sammi's and they are pretty good, too. Like I said, there are a LOT of great speakers that go well with 18 watters. If it does'nt suit at least I can flick it off and get something else. Alnico type has to be a reasonable starting point though?

may be i`m a little bit late with my posting, but i`m playing the 18 w with a 1 x 12 TAD box with a greenback GM 25 heritage and an additional 1 x 12 GH 30 . both speakers are working single with the 18 w, both together is very fine sound. i´m professional guitarplayer since 30 years, mainly influenced by eric clapton (beano-album!) or peter green also like modern jazzplayers like john abercrombie or jesse van ruller (!!!). especially for the bluesy style this amp/speaker combination is outstanding good. i`m interessted how the sound would be with alnico blue. greetings hanno |
