When I unpacked my kit I recieved the pack of resistors but with one missing. The "100R". Has this been left out because it is not required? Or should I nip down to the local electronics supply and pick one up? It runs between the middle tone post and the 0.022UF on the board.

  Thanx,  Tim.

Hi Tim,
I'd replace it. I don't think anything in the layout is "extra". Also, that resistor goes from the center tone tab to the ground buss, not the .022 cap. Triple check your connections against the layout!
                                                                   Good luck and have fun,
                                                                                 Gerry

Ah so it does Gerry.  Note to self: Use eyeballs more thoroughly!

Thanx, Tim.   BTW, what does the "R" stand for ?

That 100R (ohm) resistor isn't "absolutely" required as you can just wire the middle lug of the tone pot to the CCW lug of the volume and then to ground.  But, Gerry is correct...stick to the layout.

On second thought........ Undecided
I got off my lazy butt and found the "Original" schem here:
http://www.dreamtone.org/pdf/18watt_Schematic_08-28-03.pdf
It shows the tone knob just to the right of V1 with no resistor between the sweep and ground so, as ChrisL pointed out, it shouldn't hurt anything to leave the resistor out if you wish. It's funny, I didn't even notice the "R" after 100. My brain automatically read it as 100 ohms! I'm just starting to build my first amp (a 5E3), I'd better make sure I triple check against the layout too! Grin
