 Ok, so starting out as a 1st time builder, just a few small areas of confusion: 1 The standby switch, on the layout diagram it shows the switch with only 2 posts although the switch supplied has 6. So do I solder 1 to the earth and 1 to the + side?

 #2 The shielded black wire supplied in the kit.  Is this the wire used to run between the 5 posts on the tubes? I am suposing the green is for the #4 post on the tubes?  Or do I use the red and green for this job?

  #3 The diodes; is there a easy way to evaluate thier properties? Is there a colour code available?

  #4 The 4 ohm/ 8ohm wires from the O/T. Where do these go?

Before we can answer specifically, please let us know what you are building. 

For the time being a 6 pole standby switch just requires the middle lug and bottom lug on one side wired.  It depends on the circuit where the leads go though.

Shielded wire is NOT for the heater supply.  It's usually reserved for the input section and/or other noise sensitive areas.

Diodes?  Are you sure you don't mean...resistors? 

As for the Output trans wires....again, what are you building; head or combo of what?

Its an 18w TMB combo model. Are yes resistors  :-[ . Yep the switch thing now makes sense to me. Should have thought about that one a bit harder.

If you have the impedance selector it's just 4, 8,16 in the click order of the selector with the master lead going to the tip of the output jack.

If you don't have a selector (ie. combo chassis) the 4 and 8 ohm secondaries are wired to their own individual output jacks.
