Title: 18W & 36W question
Post by: man_mars on May 20, 2010, 02:14:12 PM
Hi,

New around here. I just had a couple of questions as I'm planning getting the 18 watter.

Just wanted to know how much more headroom does the 36w have at gigging levels. I heard that the 18w is not so good at gig levels inorder to get some decent cleans ? Whats has your experiences been ?
Also, given the 36W OT & PT and addtl tube sockets, tubes etc, how much more would a 36w head weigh in comparison to the 18w ? Could someone let know what is the weight of either head.

Thanks guyz..Cheers !!!

Not sure on the weight but I'm sure it states the weight of both at Nik's site.

The 36W with the half power switch is what I have. In 18W mode it doesnt quite have the clean headroom I need for most medium or larger rooms. In 36W mode it has a lot more punchy headroom.
I played it in 18W at a casino gig last night. Those gigs are pretty quiet. MORE than enough power for rooms like that...but...you get into a medium sized bar and you'll wish you had that switch to kick it into 36W mode.

It has enough jam in 36W for anything. I use it at big outdoor festivals. We mic everything in even the smallest rooms btw.

Get the 36W RP with half power switch and you'll never look back.
