Long winded title I know, but it pretty much says it all....there's a Fender 59 Bassman reissue I'm considering as it is a cheaper way of getting a decent cab and speakers for the 5F6A from Ceriatone that I think I might get (plus I have an amp to play while I wait for the 5F6A from Nik!!).

There's 2 questions I have though;
  • First will Nik's chassis fit straight into the Fender cabinet?
  • Second, the Fender amp has it's 4x10" speakers wired to give 2ohms, but Nik's layout shows the switching options as 4, 8 & 16ohms.

I'm going to email these to Nik as well, but he's a busy man so I hoped you guys could help!!

Honestly, at that point, a more affordable option would be one of several retrofit kits to drop a new turret board into the LTD chassis.  Use the amps cab, speakers, chassis, knobs, transformers, etc.  Hoffman really started this biz, but plenty of others also offer their versions, several let you spec the cap brand, etc.  With all the other parts needed...pots, jacks, etc....the kits run anywhere from $175-250, pretty affordable price to convert your LTD into a vintage-correct hand-wired amp.

Even if you figure in $100 to install if you don't feel comfortable with doing it yourself, you're still below replacing an entire chassis, transformers, choke and all.

Adrian

The Fender 59 re-issue is $1200. and Weber bassman complete kit with cab/spkrs/ampkit is $600.  How could you get it any cheaper?
