Just Finished my Stray Cat and let me tell this thing rocks.

I used TDS transformers for Chieftain specs and SOZO caps.  I changed the Pilot Light and Fuse Holders.

This will likely be my next project....

I had to drill out the screw holes for the Power Transformer is all.  The TDS PT has a larger footprint.  It was also a little tight getting the wires through with the wire gauges that TDS use.  Especially the heater wires.  This tranny is made for the extra current needed for the back lit lamps that Matchless or Black Cat uses.

Are there issues with the Pilot Light and the Fuse Holder?
Thanks

no issues.  I broke one of the fuse holders installing it.  So I purchased 2 new ones so they would match.  The bolt that tightens around the holder broke when I put a pair of pliers on it.   The Pilot light I exchanged to one I liked better and got a purple lense for it..

I didn't have any other issues except for a cold solder joint I had in the power amp section.  Never did find exactly which one.  I just re-soldered all the joints and the problem was gone.  Nik was there within a couple of hours with email response.  You will never find better support anywhere and the amp parts are really the highest quality and sound really great.

I honestly feel that capacitors make a very little change in sound as opposed to the transformer choices...  TDS designed and makes the tranys for Matchless and Bad Cat....  My Dizzy 30 and Stray Cat sounds awesome...  Thanks to Nik and TDS ....

Mine has Ceriatone Trannies in it and it's still a friggin' awesome ballsy amp. Grin

Nowdays I find that I amp using this amp more than my HRM

I had to tame the brightness of the clean channel with a Boss GE7 when using my Strat but with a Les Paul it's OK
The gain channel is unbelievable, best "Crying Woman Tone" around, from High Gain Marshall to well beyond.

There are 2 mods I need to do
1). Improve the ventilation of the head cab, these amps run very hot and in Australian Summers thats not a good thing.
2). One day I will get some TDS trannies

Cheers
