I know Mayer and SRV had one. I think it's just meant to be the loudest clean amp in the world.
2  Muchless / DC 30 / Anyone use an Alnico speaker with their Dizzy? on: February 16, 2012, 09:30:36 AM
Hi, enjoying my Dizzy 30. currently running it into 2 1x12 cabs with vintage 30's. As ever, always looking for the perfect tone I was wondering if anyone had ever tried a cab with Celestion Alnico golds?
The blues I guess would be nice but at only 15 watt rating it would mean I would have to use both cabs all the time rather than for some gigs traveling light with 1 cab.

I know the G12 H and the V30's seem to be the way to go but was just looking for a different slant.
I play the amp on the 12 AX7 channel exclusively with the vol on 2.30 and no master engaged, treble around 1.00 and bass around 11.00.  I play a tele and use no effects. The amp is breaking up with the guitar vol on full but cleans up real easy when backed off. My tone is close to Robert Cray's.

Thanks.

My first guess would be that your cabs are out of phase with one another, though that seems unlikely if they are factory-wire cabs since they are both Matamp.

It sounds fine through each cab by itself?

Hi yes it does, however it seems that there was some confusion regarding the ohms of one of the speakers and it was changed to a 8ohm from a 16. They are now both 8 ohms but this would suggest to me that perhaps they were not bought as a pair. Is it a big deal to get one re-wired so it's in phase?

Not hard at all for someone who can solder.  Just swap the wires on the jack of the cabinet (you can swap at the speaker instead, but tools have a hbit of being dropped through speaker cones).

Ahh, think I'll have a go at that tonight. I can solder pickups in guitars so speakers should be ok.
Thanks for your help>

Hi guys. I'm new to the forum though I'm on my 2nd Ceriatone (DC 30 clone).
I recently picked up 2 Matamp 1x12 cabinets to run my head through. The speakers in each of the cabs are Celestion V30's and rated at 8 ohms. Today at band rehearsal I plugged both cabs in together and adjusted the ohm selector to 4 ohms to allow for running the 2 cabs.
I inserted a speaker cable into each input in the back of the head then selected an input each on the cabs. (there are 2 unmarked inputs on each cabinet).
My problem is the volume is about 30% less when running both cabs rather than running the one, as I did last week, and ultimately did tonight.
Am I doing something wrong? The previous owner of the cabs ran a stereo wet/dry setup with the cabs, however all i want to do is just move a bit more air with the sound of 2 speakers rather than one. One cabinet is also open backed, if that makes a difference.
I am thinking of exchanging the 2 cabs for a Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks. Is this overkill??
