1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS MINI 20 noise on: March 14, 2017, 06:11:04 PM
There are shops that service Ceriatone amps all over America. Check out their website and you'll find the list. They are well built hand made amps, so the problems they incur are not mysteries, very easily fixable, for a technician at least. We need them.

The buffered effects loop is not standard because it would add $300 to the cost of the amp and not everyone uses effects, so why punish them with higher pricing?

It keeps the cost of the amp affordable for many people. If you can afford to pay $300 more for the amp with it, why can't you afford to spend $150-300 more to buy the effects loop buffer? You ain't gonna get it for free, nothing is free.
3  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS mini 20 compatibility w/ two rock 2x12 cab on: April 14, 2015, 05:52:50 PM
I use an OTS Mini 20 and I use for some gigs 2 single 12" speaker cabs, each loaded with a Scumback M75, LHDC, 8 Ohm, 100 Watt Speaker.

The OTS drives one of them great, but with two of them I get a better low end throw and sustain. My bandmates say I should use 2 12" on every gig.

With 2 speakers, I can rip your head off with this "little" 20 watt amp. It's pretty impressive.

Just my opinion.

Something is definitely not right. My OTS mini 20 is a pretty much a monster volume wise. In an 8 piece band I can't get past 9:30 on MV. The loudest 20 I've ever owned by far. The boost does boost the signal a little much, but it is what it is.

I use two different cabinets with my OTS mini 20. One using an Eminence Patriot Cannabis Rex 12" 50 watter and the other with a Scumback M75 LHDC 100 watter.
The Scumback is better for doing single coil stuff, blues, SRV etc.. The speaker doesn't break up with just the 20 watts unless you're playing loud (which the OTS mini is loud), but sounds awesome!
The Cannabis Rex is a little smoother/creamier, better for Santana, classic rock, anything with a little more gain than blues as the speaker breaks up a bit easier.

Both sites offer options such as PPIMV, 1/2 Power, TAD Mustard Cap upgrade, etc. and certain models have more options also. They are listed on the ceriatone.net site on each product page.
Yes, the prices on the .NET site are lower.
7  Website, Store / General / Re: Ceriatone .com vs .net on: December 28, 2014, 02:32:47 PM
Ceriatone.net is a US reseller of Nik's amps. They still come straight to you from Nik, same quality, etc. but you save 10% over ordering directly from Nik. Hey, a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks!

I just got my 4th Ceriatone amp (yes, I am addicted), but this time I got it from www.ceriatone.net. Saved almost $125 also. If you have a hard time figuring out Nik's pricing/shipping, pack 1,2,3,4 etc... then save a few $$$ and to to ceriatone.net as they've got it all laid out where you can understand it easier, like they just give you the price, including shipping.

I paid $1311 for an OTS that cost me $1433 a year ago. It came directly from Nik also, not a different builder.

Things just got a little easier!
9  Ceriatone / Overtone / Modern Eagle Mod on: January 12, 2012, 09:29:06 PM
I've been off the forum for awhile enjoying my OTS I modded. Have had it for over 2 years, and have bought another one as well.

What is the "Modern Eagle" mod tonally to the basic OTS?

Thanks!

I'm looking for one of the TW logos for personal use.  Does anyone know where to get one?  Thx.

If you find one, please let me know.  I'm looking also!  Thanks.
13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Dumble Steel String Singer on: May 24, 2010, 01:50:17 AM
Just so you all know, Nik is working on a Steel String Singer clone.  Getting close I'm told.  But this will be one LOUD amplifier you can bet on it.  Even moreso that the OTS probably.  I have 2 OTS's and a TW Expression. Best amps I've ever owned by FAR!!!!!
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Re-Start on: April 22, 2010, 08:23:17 PM
The one player is correct... Burn in for a minimum of 48 hours SOLID... 3 or 4 days is best.  A week wouldn't hurt even.  I burned mine in for about a week and it was very nice tonally.

This does several things.  It "burns in" all the components, levels off the tolerance.

If any parts are going to go, they should burn up during burn in, not during a live show or practice.  I've

Tubes need to be burned in good so they mellow a little.

Plug your guitar (with NO effects/ guitar straight into the amp) in without burn in and record some rhythm chops and lead.  Write down or don't change your settings in any way for the comparison.

Then after it burns in for 4 - 7 days, record the same rhythm/lead chops and you'll hear a huge difference, mellower, much more clarity/definition, huge difference in sustain.  You will be blown away by the difference.
15  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: advise on getting a SRV tone on: April 22, 2010, 08:13:22 PM
I have an OTS (sold the S&M and bought the 50w OTS) and to get SRV, Chris Duarte, Henry Garza, etc.  I use a Hermida Zendrive 2 (not the Zendrive.. the ZENDRIVE 2) and it's as close to this sound as I've ever gotten.  Only a purist would know the difference, and he wouldn't be listening to me play anyway!

Of course you have to use a single coil, neck pup... high quality... I like the Rio Grande lineup personally...  I had a set of Muy Macho's and they pretty much nailed it...

Then practice practice practice until your ears bleed.

Rock on!
