Title: screen resistor
Post by: joex on August 15, 2010, 06:57:02 PM
Hi, I do not see a screen resistor on the output tubes. Do I need them on this build?

Hi, thanks for the reply and I was referring to the schematic. There is usually a 470ohm or a
1k soldered to pin 4 although some tweeds did not have a screen resistor. I used a 1k 5w on each just to be safe. Which value would you suggest? I am using Sylvania chrome tops. Thanks again.

I was talking about pin5 which is considered as screen pin... I consider pin 4 as grid only pin...

There's no resistor on pin 4 for this amp.

Are you guys sure you are on the same page...?
To my knowledge, the original BF Princeton did not have screen or grid resistors. It looks like Nik has 1k5 resistors on the grids of his build. He "designed" this layout so I would assume they were a good idea.
Pin 4 is the Screen grid.
Pin 5 is the Control grid.
Good Luck
