Wow Tom, that's some amp. Great job.

You'll have to produce some clips demonstrating some of the different mods.

hey Tom, I noticed you have built in a buffered loop. Did you use a kit for this like the one from London Power?

Cheers Gregg

SoundPerf, I'll do that, I made a video showing the different sounds yesterday, but had some technical issues, (which translates as me being crap at getting the recording onto youtube!), I'll try again when I get a minute:)

Adam, the buffered loop was a clater earlier in it's life. I didn't implement that mod, it was done by Steve Carter, awesome engineer/human being in NW England. He did the reverb mod as well.

I'll start a new thread on it, and try and get hold of the schematic for the reverb and buffered loop mods. I know Steve made a schematic by reverse engineering...

Here's my completed build.

It's a 50w OTS I built from a kit.
For transformers, I used Hammond bassman type replacements (PT 291DEX, OT 1760L, Choke 194B).
I had to drill some new mounting holes for these, but it wasn't too difficult.
I also went for the 'heater wires in the air' approach.
For tubes, I used some old Mullard ECC83s in V1 / V2, a new Tungsol in V3 and TAD 6L6s in V4 / V5.

My voltages were a touch high initially (477V at power tube plates, ~200V at V1 plates), so I increased the 3K3 dropper resistor to 4k7.
This got the preamp plate voltages down a touch, so I ended up with ~190V at V1 plates.
I also adjusted the PI trimmer for a 6V difference at the V3 plates.

I didn't build the head cab, I got that from Tube Town.
I had to drill the mounting holes in the cab, but again that wasn't too difficult once I'd made a paper template of the chassis.

I'm really pleased with the sound of the amp. It sounds really full bodied with the 2x12 cab I have.
I'll probably invest in a G1265 loaded cab and a C-Lator eventually.

Grin Cool Build! Nice Cab! Didn't know they still come in white chassis like mine (2012)

What did lowering the voltage do to the tone /response of the amp? I've been investigating this for a long time now. Thanks.

Here are a few shots of my new Ceriarolannatone that I just received.
I bought the chassis from a friend and had Taylor at Amplified Nation build the cab based on a CA design.
Thanks Taylor, I love this thing!!!

Happy to finally be able to post.

BM50 with D-Style cabs (oval back).

One cab has an ET90 (amazing).
The other is an Emi RWB (not amazing).  To be replaced with something else TBD.

Well, I swapped out the RWB for a WGS Retro30.

All I can say is, WOW.  The Retro30 has the Fendery sparkle without the ice pick or flabby bass.  The ET90 is that great full tone.  Together they're amazing.

Highly recommended.  I can't believe how little I paid for these speakers, considering how good they sound.

Here my latest... OTS lunchbox. The speaker cab started off as a Hammond PR 40 tone cab. I built the head cab to match it.
