Why not, I can't simply say no to the 600 or so emails for this amp. It's bad for my heart.

Im doing this by stage. If it gets unmanageable again, I will hold until shipments clear.

Wait time is 6-8 weeks. Production of the amp is no longer time consuming, the guys can do it eyes closed now. But cabinet comes in trickles of 3 or so per week...

Anyways, it's more enjoyable when it's quiet. Gives me time to think and work on other things as well.

Heard from Nik that mine will be here within two weeks. He's waiting on a delivery of 0.1uf caps to finish a batch of Overtones. I can't wait to hear her as I've been "Dumble-less" since selling a Bruno Super 100 a few years ago (outside brief stints with a Zendrive and an Ethos OD). I'm also building an Isolation Cabinet to play it and a Ceriatone Trainwreck through (details here -> http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=263106&highlight=isolation).

I was following that thread with interest as I've been thinking of building an iso cab.  Did you get that one finished?

When did you order?

I have all of the additional parts ready (insulation, mic, goosenecks, shock mount, jacks, etc) and am waiting on delivery of the Cabinet from Bob Burt. Hopefully will have everything put together in a few weeks.

Great looking head.  Who is she??  Dorthy the clone!?!  Bob makes some beautiful cabs.  Keep me abreast with the iso-cab build (if you don't mind).

As long as I'm tearing the concept of Trademarks a new one, I might as well call her Bozo the Clone - lol. I heard from Bob last night that my Iso Cab will be completed by week's end. Since he has a full-time day job as well, it may take a little longer.

Not yet. I'm waiting on delivery of the cabinet, then have to soundproof it and install the speakers, microphone, jacks, etc. I'm way beyond patient . . .

I just talked to an aquaintance in Europe who recently received his Overtone. He couldn't be happier. He said it is superior to several "big name" amps he has been using lately. He told me I have a treat in store.

I am getting so ready for this amp but it looks like I have another month to go.

Actually, I twisted Nik's arm to put me in the queue based on some emails we traded before it was officially released. He let me know that it would be put in the queue without a deposit until it was ready to ship. That's the reason I've waited this long - Nik is a good guy.

I'm at 6 weeks today. I've got my fingers crossed.

WOW! My OTS was shipped on Tuesday by Nick from Malaysia and it arrived today, Thursday, in Tampa at noon. Wish I could get that kind of service between US states. It came securely double-boxed with a chord, footswitch and T-Shirt. I've been playing it through a 2X12 cab loaded with mid-sixties Vox Silver Bulldogs and it sounds fantastic with single coils or humbuckers. My Iso cab should be completed in a week and then I'll crank it up through that & report back.

Hi!  New to this forum.  I just placed my Overtone order today.  I think Nik should give commission to Marin and Sami because I decided to buy it in part due to the clips that these guys have made.   ;D

I look forward to getting the amp and hearing more clips.

Just got some info from Nik yesterday about a batch of Overtones being shipped this week. He also said that my amp should be coming up, as I ordered mine in early January.

So.. hopefully the wait should be almost Over....tone.

Actually is was more like 10-11 weeks. Nik was waiting for the cab to be made so there was a longer wait. I suppose they ship quicker now.

However, I feel that the buzz is going around so the quantity of orders have probably increased in the past weeks.

Therefore, lucky you, you'll have one of the first Overtones soon!

Me too- just joined the forum & I've about 6-7 weeks to wait too...  however, from reading all the discussion I realsed I've really lucked out... I've just bought an old '72 Marshall 2x12 in near mint condition- with a pair of original 70's Celestion G12-65's inside- can't wait to hook 'em up with the Overtone! 

Hopefully I'll post clips when it arrives...

Hang in there Rui.  I have my own little bit of good news today....I ordered a couple Zendrive pedals a long while back and got a confirmation that they are done.  Woo hooo....  We'll see what all the fuss is about in a week or so.

Not a big deal for me to wait a while more. I have a new Suhr arriving next week. :D

Guys-

I'm lucky enough to own both a Zendrive & Zendrive 2- I've had Klon/Fulltones/Xotics/Crowthers etc...etc... but I can honestly say the Zendrive is by far the most natural sounding overdrive I have ever used... I've been playing semi-professionally for 28 years... and nothing else has come close to getting a natural mild 'juicy' distortion- can't recommend it highly enough- it's just more 'musical' somehow... I would say in comparing the two that the Zendrive II has a touch more gain & a more beefy low end which I prefer... I wonder if the Zendrive/Overtone combination will be utter Tone Nirvana?  Let you all know when my OT arrives- 6 weeks and counting!

I finally emailed Nik, he said there were about 8 OT amps ready but the cabs aren't in yet. He is supposed to get 4-5 Sunday and 4 more on Monday. Where I am in line he didn't say.

I agree with your analysis of the ZD and ZD2. I have both. I would like to sell one to use that cash, but I can't decide which one I would keep. They are very similar, but as you aptly described there are some subtle differences. I'll use one or the other, depending on what I am playing and the mood i am in. I also have had tons of high ends pedals. For me when it comes to natural mild distortion/od, for me its Alf's Zens and Sean M's Eternity.
I also am waiting for my Overtone. Should be going out any day, but I have not been able to reach Nik since Tuesday for an update. Where is he?

So, SRV used to use a couple TS'ers stacked....I wonder what 3 Zendrives will sould like daisy chained... :P ;D  OK OK,,,Two are for a couple buddies...lol.   

Mitch and Gunner,  Just curious?? What are you running your ZD's in front of? 

I did try running one Zendrive into another but the tone was just too compressed for me.  I have finally settled on a A/B switch set-up between the Zendrive II & a 70's silicon Fuzz Face for the higher gain lead tones into either a late 60's 100w marshall plexi & 4x12 at around 6-7 volume (I use a powerbreak to cut the huge volume!) or a dimed re-issue Bluesbreaker- depending on the size of the venue... Whe it arrives I'm hoping to just use the OT drive for most stuff and cut down my pedalboard! ;)

9 weeks today and no word.

Yep..  I celebrated the "2 months waiting day" yesterday (ordered mine on January 4)..

Not a big problem.. I have new toys here at home to play with. New guitar arrived 2 days ago. A set of pickups which will go for one of my strats arrived today. Because of that, receiving the Overtone will not be in my mind all the time for a few days ;).

I just remembered something, I've heard HAD had a rule that if you ask about your amp before he was done you might not ever get it. I hope Nik isn't being that "authentic" with his D clone.  ;D

I'm seeing that 2 1/2 on the overdrive is enough for me. The footswitch is cool, the boost sounds wonderful!

What exactly is the ratio control? It appears to be a seperate master for the od.

I've been playing the amp dry and dry it sounds very nice. Now to get some reverb and delay going.

The trimmer for the od must be set high because I can get all the od I want at 2 for a strat and 1 1/2 for my les paul. I hooked a TC M-One in the loop, works very well. I was afraid the passive loop wouldn't work right, works just fine. Who'd a thought?

Today waiting 7 weeks. I have some studio dates in early april, hoping to use the OT at that time :-X

Well I only had an hour with mine. Today I have a major date with these amps and I have a friend coming too.

...anyway what I can say for sure is, these amps worth every penny for the clean channel only. Very Fendrish sounding, just the way I like it. I was surprised to see how I was able to set the tone I like very quickly. I think thats a sign of a good amp. I'm not really an OD guy, so I had no issues with setting a slight OD tone I liked. I did notice slight loss of bass and increase of the hi-end while using OD, but that didn't spoil anything. It wasn't harsh and I was playing my strat with gold lace sensors. I was using my Greenback speaker and I was not playing very loudly (home volume). If this turns out to be an issue for me, I already know what to tweak... I did my homework :)
...but first I must build my cab and see how it works with my new G12-65 speaker.

I also noticed that this amp sounds better if the master it opened (let say around 7-8) and clean ch. volume is down. I think it sounds fuller this way. I also like to set the ratio OD control very low, so when you hit the OD button you notice just a slight boost in volume. It feels like an extension of the clean ch. with a slight grit and more sustain.

If you want to know how I feel about this amp... let just say  :chairdance: :chairdance:

Agreed about the clean channel, it's wonderful and the boost makes it that much more.

I'm going in to adjust the od trimmer. Mine is HOT! I can get all the od I want with it set at 1 1/2. I'd prefer it if the tone I'm getting on 1/12 was the same as at 4 that way I could tweek down a hair. I'll report back on what I learn.

I'll say it again, Nik, this is a great amp!

If I can see my way into one of these, Combo will be my way to go, will be watching on speaker selctions from you guys too.   Glad I found this forum. Great info and folks here

Just for the record... I already have a speaker for this amp. I ordered it even before I heard the amp. It seems to be the right choice for most players.

...although I'm playing through my old Greenback now and man, I think I like that speaker for this amp as well... but 25W is not big enough I guess.

Regarding Fendrish clean... yesterday I wasn't sure but now I am...
I can finally say my lust for Twin has ended right here. Yesterday, my friend brought his SF Twin for the test and man, this amp can do that sound very well, way better than my DRRI ever could...  :o

oh yes i like those comments!!!. i think its fair to say my next amp purchase will be an OT. let us know about those speakers tho.

Plus one on the cleans. This amp clean stands up to any amp I've ever heard.

My od trimmer was at 11:00, I had to keep the level set at 1 1/2. I backed the trimmer down to 9 and then raised it back up to 10:00. Just that small amount made a difference, now I can get the same amount of drive with the level set on 3. It's not as touchy.

Oh yeah, this amp responds so well to the volume knob on your guitar. Also it seems to likes the neck Humbucker on my Les Paul better than most amps too.

I'd buy this amp again in a heart beat.

...and where is your "Ratio" at?

ratio is set at 3 as well.

I tried just a MXR Carbon Copy delay in the loop alone tonight, sounded wonderful. It didn't mess with the gain structure of the amp near as much as the TC rack unit. I'm now on the hunt for a reverb stomp box. Any suggestions?

 I have been using a Boss pedal and I was thinking of getting a TC-Major or something similar. Can you adjust the return signal gain on your rack?

The TC rack unit is a +4 db device, it only has a pad on the input. The output is whatever it is. I had to tweek around to get the clean/overdrive to ballance the same as without it in the loop. The stomp box on the other hand is true bypass and off the sound and ballance between the two channels (what I'm calling gain structure) is the same as when on, just with delay. And a very nice dealy it is.

I'm going to get a reverb stomp and give that a try before I spend money on a parrellel loop gizmo for the rack device. I honestly like the idea of carrying a head and two stomp boxes in as a whole rig.

can the TC recover the loss of signal by increasing the output level?

The TC unit has no output adjustment.

On another note I just ordered a Lee Jackson Mr. Springgy reverb unit (stompbox), if this works like I'm hoping I'll be almost there.

New subject, I found a 2-12 empty cab. I have two G12H laying around, actually 2 new ones and 2 black backs from 1978. What do you think about either of these with this amp?

Mine came through Belgium and it took 4 days to arrive from Ceriatone to my country.

I'll share what I've learned so far.

Volume 3
I set the switches bright off, deep on, rock.
I use the amps boost only on cleans (only).
I set the EQ for the overdrive side, treble 2 1/2, mids 6 and bass at 8 1/2.
Overdrive 3 (boost off)
Ratio 3

When I click the boost off and the od on the EQ is preset just for the od. With these settings I'm getting a great fat, clear clean tone and a tight overdrive and can footswitch between them. These two tones cover a lot of ground. I can add the amps boost to the od but have to dial my guitar volume back to about 7 but that's another cool tone as well.

Today waiting 8 weeks :'(  I am no longer watching your tube movies, it's killing me..

Mine´s still in Holland. Nothing new at the TNT online tracking since last friday... Called TNT who told me that they would expect the amp to be here in 2 days. Let´s see.. but I hope so.

I placed my Overtone order last Tuesday. For me this is an act of blind faith - the clips in the net and the fact that some Overtone owners are putting their dumble clones (such as fuhcs) for sale have convinced me to take the plunge.

As a totally newcomer to this amp brand, I wonder whether all Ceriatone amp models have received similar, excessively enthusiastic welcome? I'm hoping to find it out after my 8 weeks waiting... The buzz was similar when Boogie released their Mark IV amp (more than 15 years ago).

I owned a MK IV. This amp sound far better. It doesn't do metal, that's the only place I can see the MK IV has anything to offer over it. The cleans are so nice, the boost is wonderful. I don't use the boost on the lead channel, this way the tone stack can be dialed in for the lead channel, makes for better foot switching. Also a Zvex Box of Rock works very well in front of the amp too. I think you'll be happy.

The Boogie lead tone (to me) was more of a modern tone. I like old school, the OT reminds me of a Plexi in a way. I'm probably alone in that but it does me.

I just ordered my Overtone Special about an hour ago.  I sold two amps and a guitar on ebay to finance this venture.  Nik said it takes about 9 weeks now--is that what you all are experiencing? 

8 to 9 weeks has been normal.

Anybody have chassis dimensions?  I need to start on my head cab--it's the only way I will survive the wait!

Ordered an ODS as well (complete package). 9 weeks delivery time.
I also ordered a TT Cabinet with 2 Celestion G12-65's. The cab can be used both as an open and a closed back.

I've also got a pre-built OT on order with Nik.   I placed mine in Feb and was quoted 6-8 weeks back then.  I'm now into week 9 and been advised that there are a few still ahead of me in the list so I have no idea how much longer.   The early part of the wait was easy,   but when the quoted lead-time passes,  the anticipation starts to get intense  ;D  ;D           

Well, I ordered on Feb 6, and nothing yet. I am past 9 weeks, and to my knowledge some that ordered after me, have received theirs. I ordered the entire package with head box and tubes, so maybe that is the hold up.

I know that one appeared for sale on the gear page, and if I had not placed an order, I would have jumped on it.

Ordered mine on the 30 january and no sign of it yet,i also ordered the cab and tubes. >:(

Don't worrie... everybody who ordered from Nik eventually got the product.

Yah, I also ordered the whole package deal. Mine took 11 weeks from order to receipt - that seems to be about the time the full orders are taking from what i hear. I will say though, that once they send it, it takes mere days to get to your door - also all that worry and frustration me when you take it out of the box and fire it up.
You'll probably get yours before the end of the month!

The complete amps (with cab) take longer to make. I think its because Niks cab man can't more than a certain number each week.
