Hi everyone
I'm about to order my first ceriatone amp and I'm really excited!

That said I'm torn between the hrm and non-hrm versions.
From the clips I seem to like non-hrm better.
But I also like the flexibility of the hrm...

So Nik offered to install a HRM defeat switch.
Can anyone tell me how close the HRM with defeat switch on will get to the non-hrm?
Will I still get the creamy tones associated to OTS?

Thanks for your help
Cheers

No. I have the setup.

To be more serious and complete : NO, you won't get the creamy usual overdrive of the ODS.

From a REALLY different OD circuit ( not the same trimmers, not same caps and resistors, no snubbers, ... ) and ONLY the
HRM trimmers stage remove (ok, it seems that Nik put a 4m7 resistor and a cap ) , you can't expect this sound !!! AND you get a HUGE bump of volume.

Furthermore depending of the first stage ( I mean "the clean section" ), you have a high relation between these 2 stages to get
this ODS creamy OD ! For example, with my Bluesmaster it's a "no way" : with the HRM, the OD is more "Marshall" Type, without the HRM, the OD stays more aggressive and less creamy than the ODS
( and my PAB that, if I understand well is the "megaPAB" ! )

BTW if someone can explain my a tweak to reduce this PAB ( a resistor change ? this only can modify it ? a small layout and explanation will be welcome  Wink)

Anyway , it's ALWAYS interesting to have it coz, the sound is different anyway : so, 2 options  Wink

Hey
Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I found a used HRM for a very good price just before ordering from Nik.
I have very little information about it, I'm the third owner and the previous owner had no clue what it was. The only mods I've noticed is a push pull on the overdrive level, which sounds like a bright switch for the od channel. I just noticed a little togle switch behin the back plate, between two preamp tubes, I don't know what it does.

I might have the hrm defeat mod done one day, but it's already a very versatile amp.
I get all the cream I need, the kleinulator makes a world of difference here.
Great great amp!
Sorry I can't help you with your question
Cheers
