Is it posible to change the 12AX7 for another preamp tube (an AT or AU?) for less overall gain? Thanks, Arjen

12AY7's or 5751's are a good choice


Overdrive is like peanut butter. Some like it crunchy, some like it creamy.

But ultimately you won't gain any extra clean headroom...you aren't going to get louder cleans...just better control over the volume taper.
