Howdy All,

I am just getting started on a 2204 build and was wondering what some of you do for schematics.

I realize that it's possible to build using only the layout as a reference, but thinking in the longer term - I'd like to be able to create and edit a schematic so that I will have something that reflects the circuit even if I decide to do some modifications.

I'd like to hear any recommendations for software (I'm assuming there are specialty applications for this) and if anyone has already "created" a 2204 schematic (that can be edited) that would be helpful too.

I was thinking it (this topic) should be a "sticky" - but I found that it's not.

Looking forward to this first build (already planning to build a TrainWreck Express tribute next).

Hey again.

If this helps anyone - I found a schematic drawn by Mark Huss that he has posted in PDF and GIF formats for download at his site. If you google his name and 2204 you will find it quickly. This schematic matches the Ceritone layout (rev. 30 July 2009) very closely.

FWIW.

Here are some pics of my build. I think it looks pretty good for a "first amplifier".
Still haven't fired it up yet - as I am waiting on a replacement 50+50 uF capacitor. I had one in my original package that suspect.

Here's one "final" shot (other than connections to one of the big caps.

Here's another just more "over head"...

Here's a pic showing the Mercury Magnetics iron...

Can't wait to hear it - though I'll have to wait until I get a replcaement cap. I have a few different types of EL-34s and 12AX7s to try out. Hoping that everything fires up and runs, but will take it step-by-step on initial power-up and testing.

Cheers,
-Paul

Thats some pretty wiring.  I'm starting a 2204 build myself.  Other than a layout diagram what else did you use to reference your build?

Cheers,
Ron
