I purchased a JCM800 2204 50w Ceriatone clone a while ago.  What is the chance it's putting out more than 50 watts clean or ~70 watts when pushed?

I would like to know because I like to carefully match amp wattage and speaker wattage ratings.

(Is clone the right word?)

It may be putting out more than an original, just due to the internals being new, the main caps, and such.

50 watts RMS means that it can provide 50 steady, continuous watts without fail. But it is capable of peaking repeatedly at 70-80 watts or so, it just can sustain output above ~50 watts.

Put it can start peaking at over 50 watts real early, as soon as 3 on the Master Volume (Preamp Volume dependent).  So, a 50-watt Marshall could blow two old 25 watt greenbacks/blackbacks (which had a 25-watt maximum capacity...as do some clones like 25-watt Scumbacks) before you get to 4 up the volume dial.

Rule of thumb is you would pair a 50-watt tube amp with a 100-watt speaker load.
